The Asian and Spanish Women’s Network is an initiative promoted by the Spanish Agency of International Cooperation for Development (AECID) together with Casa Asia with the purpose to create a communication and dialogue space among women from Asian countries and from Spain in order to favour mutual understanding and to make the establishment of collaboration and cooperation bonds.
The role of women in the development of Asian countries is more and more relevant and this is why women’s voice must be heard to be able to get to know the reality of Asia. For this, common dialogue spaces must be created where the plural reality of Asian women is shown and the future scenarios in the protection and guarantee of their rights and the access to opportunities are reflected on.
Since the 1st of February 2011, the Network operates at Casa Asia Headquarters in Barcelona with the purpose to promote and consolidate a great network of experience exchange, reflections and good practices regarding the topics and affairs that make up the interests of women from the Asian continent and Spain.
The Asian and Spanish Women’s Network is being reinforced as a permanent forum to get to know about the reality of women in Asia and it updates a specialist database at the disposal of public institutions, organisms, worldwide associations and foundations, among others, to collaborate in the design and execution of public policies.
Annually, the Network organises a Meeting of Asian and Spanish Women that constitutes a reference forum of topics related to the role of women as a driving force of Asian societies.
Likewise, the Network would like to highlight the rich and vibrant artistic, literary, business and academic world led by women that is currently developed in the different countries of Asia, approaching its different manifestations to the interested public.
